Kawangware slum is highly populated community and majority live below a dollar a day. They live from hand to mouth and therefore health care is not affordable at all. This has let to high mortality and maternal deaths in the community.Pregnant women and teenage pregnancies only seek medical help when its too late leading to complications during labour and delivery. The existing health facilities are too far or too costly to afford and having the routine ante natal clinic check up till delivery is not affordable and accessible to many. I have received many teenagers and mothers in my facility who have labored for many hours at home being attended to by traditional birth attendants and some get complications especially first time mothers often referred to as prime gravidas ,they come when they have tried their best and in most cases both mother and baby are exhausted(in distress)being ill equipped with the modern resuscitative equipment and advanced critical care, I have had to use my own means in referring the ones that need advanced intervention like caesarean sections and the baby needs complete new born unit to Kenyatta national hospital,Mbagathi District Hospital and st Mary's Hospital among others. Having experienced the above,i need to purchase some live support equipment's that can meet the above challenges as we prepare for referral for advanced intervention.ultra sound machine,Doppler ultra sound machine, well equiped new born unit, delivery bed, ambulance, vital sign monitors, microscope, full heamogram machine, bio chemistry analyzer machine,Ambulance van among others to serve this deserving community. Its my humble request that you join me in making kawangware slum residents and its environs a better ,healthier community.
