Medical costs to help beat Craig’s Cancer

Craig’s story…

A father of 3 and husband to myself, Craig has always ruled as head of our household taking on many responsibilities and going above and beyond. Craig has always been independent, strong willed and in control of every situation he is faced with, therefore when the news that his cancer had spread to his liver and it was stage 4 it was a fight mentally to get to grips with the news of having this internal disease that he had no control over.

It has been a rough couple of months and until he was able to get onto a tablet form treatment called Zelboraf he felt life was slipping away from him. His cancer is metastatic melanoma (spreads through the lymph nodes) and is mutation positive (accelerates tumour cell growth).

Stage 4 melanoma, although the most life threatening, offers the most treatment options but comes at a high cost financially. While we are privileged enough to be on a decent medical aid plan there are still short falls which can be draining financially especially when you have a young family to support.

To the outside world we are united and strong as a family but cracks do show behind closed doors as anyone would know who has had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with cancer within a tight family circle. Emotions run high and finances add extra stress. I am putting our story out there to those near and far that are in a position to donate to assist towards Craig’s medical expenses. The money raised would primarily be towards the shortfall of his monthly tablet treatment and then towards the shortfall on his next CT scan and Craig’s Oncologist consultations.

Please help Craig continue to get the best treatment available to him to be able to fulfil his role as a father, a husband and a provider to his family that love him with all our hearts.
