Medical costs, help Cristi beat cancer

I still have so vivid memories of my phone conversation with my husband that day. I still feel it like a claw that chokes me.

Cristian is a programmer and on that day he called me to say that he needs to go to the ophthalmologist as he is not able to see clearly on te computer anymore.

Of course I was upset that he did not mentioned this to me before.

He was busy the entire afternoon with several consultations and ended the evening with an MRI which confirmed all my fears of the last hours: thalamic tumor.

In less than a week, Cristian suffered a first surgery during which the tumor was removed subtotaly (partially). The surgery was performed with neuro-navigation and the recovery was short so six days later we went home.

Next, we received the biopsy results: anaplastic astrocytoma and two weeks later a new intervention took place, this time for a hydrocephalus.

We began 2017 preparing ourselves spiritually for radio therapy and chemotherapy.

Unfortunately the tumor has grown under radiotherapy treatments so the treatment was stopped and a new surgery to remove the relapse was performed on the first day of February.

This time the doctor risked trying to remove as much of the tumor as there are no other alternatives.

The edema that followed and the natural process of healing left him with speech and motor disabilities that fortunately will recover in time through more exercise.

Once his physical condition allowed him, in early March, Cristian had his checkup to start the immunotherapy in Germany. This is the only alternative we have left.

The treatment is very effective but unfortunately it is also very expensive.

He took the first treatment cure of the 7 rounds estimated by the doctor.

The other 6, he needs to take them monthly and the cost is 11000E/month. An amount we can not afford to pay alone; that is why we need all the help and support we can get to keep our story alive.
