We have laid Teddy to rest and his family send their deepest thanks for the generosity you have all shown. The most recent money collected has been passed to Teddy's family (along with earlier withdrawals in March). We have given Ted's family your names and email addresses and when they have had a chance to recover, we are sure you will hear from them personally. I am now closing the funding and our deepest appreciation to you all for joining us to help Teddy through his final days. Peace to you all.

Being so far away is sooo frustrating.... Ric,if you see Teddy, please tell him we love and admire him very much. We’re in Belgium now. We used to be friends on Lamma for years. I was born on July 8th, like him, and we never miss each other’s birthdays.... He’s a wonderful man. Thanks. Gwena and Duncan. xxx

My family and Poppit's family (both high school classmates of Teddy's) visited Ted today at home. His low haemoglobin has set him back in his recovery, with a bit of regression in speech & mobility, but all signs say that will be reversed on Tue when Teddy's gets his blood transfusion. Edwin (Ted's brother) says they now have enough blood donors, so thanks to all those who donated.

We dropped off a rehab exercise chair today, donated by my family, Poppit's and Rod (another classmate) and Ted got straight into the chair to get to 'work'. He is determined to get his strength back and regain mobility. We are sure he can do it! This chair will cover all muscle groups for his rehab. http://www.chairmaster.com/product_detail/1/the-ch...

I have received updates from Teddy's brother Edwin. Teddy was discharged after 11 days on Tue 22nd and is now an outpatient & able to use a wheelchair The good news is that his creatinine levels have been brought down from 950 to 60 in 5 sessions of dialysis. The acceptable level is 25.

The bad news is this text received from Edwin just this morning:

"We had our 5th dialysis yestrday at 4pm and the resident md having met Ted for the 1st time did some routine lab exam, since there was no chart to rely on. Upon results his hemoglobin showed dangerous levels. Ted has 60mg/ dl normal value is 140-180mg/dl. The md recomended 3 units of blood to be given on the 29th. As OPD patient he needs to replace 2 bags for every 1 needed. I need 6 donors aging 19-65 under no medication. No specific type, EAMC will accept any type as replacement for the one taken.

No alcohol for 25 hrs. Donors should go to EAMC donors room , ground floor near the lab. With gov issued id. State to whom they are donating sched is 9-4pm this sat, sun, mon. Tx"

If you are able to donate on Sat 26th, Sun 27th or Mon 28th (in time for Ted's transfer on Tue 29th) please contact Edwin asap at 0928 405 6201

Good news, Teddy's brother Edwin has let us know that Teddy can now stand with the assistance of 3 people, enough to get from a bed into wheelchair, so they are discharging him from hospital tomorrow Tue 22nd March. He will be undertaking dialysis on weekdays so those that want to visit, its best in weekends at his place in Antipolo.

Please keep donating to the fund to assist Teddy with the long road ahead of dialysis and rehab.

For those of you who might have missed this update from Teddy's niece:

"Hi everyone, This is Tito Teddy’s niece, Kristina. I just visited him a few hours ago, evening of March 15, and showed him this page. He has read your messages here himself and is deeply moved by all the love and support. He asked me to post this on his behalf: "Hi, I’m Teddy. Just came back from a serious life-threatening ailment. There’s going to be changes in my life. I hope you can join me in facing the new challenges as I face the days ahead." Some updates: He just underwent his second dialysis treatment a few hours ago at 8:00 pm. He should be having another one this week. The good news is his condition is improving and he says he’s feeling much better. :) Also there is a chance that he could regain some mobility on his right side after some physical rehabilitation. To what extent is still unknown at this point. The bad news is his illness is very serious and dialysis and insulin shots are going to be his new normal from now on. As with any protracted disease, treating it in a sustainable manner is going to be a big challenge. Thank you very much for all this. This is truly helpful and very much appreciated. Hopefully he can send some messages to all of you himself very soon!"

Dear Teddy, I am May Tam, ex-Oxfam Hong Kong colleague in 2002-05. I read Kristina’s message and learnt about your situation. Things seem to go the better way though there’re challenges ahead. To my memory, you’re cheerful, strong and resilient. I believe you will enjoy happy life in the days to come, though living with some nuisances, while hope, passion, friendship and support from loved ones must lighten up your way. You will have my support always! Best wishes for good recovery!

May Tam
