Any donations would be greatly appreciated to raise enough money to enable me to partake in this amazing medical brigade. I will be doing this through Global Brigades (through the University of Edinburgh) from June 9th - June 17th of 2019. I would love the opportunity to volunteer in Honduras as a medical and education assistant as I think it is so important for people to help others. Everyone deserves the right to health care and to be treated like a human being. This brigade helps bring that to people in need and I would love to be a part of that.

Global Brigades offers 7-9 day Medical Brigades throughout the year in Honduras, Panama and Nicaragua. During a Medical Brigade, volunteers have the opportunity to take vitals and patient history in triage, shadow licensed doctors in medical consultations, and assist in a pharmacy under the direction of licensed pharmacists. Each of their partner communities receives a brigade approximately twice a year. Between brigades, their in-country team maintains relationships with the communities to provide follow-up and to conduct Community Health Worker (CHW) training to empower local leaders to sustain a consistent level of healthcare. Global Brigades works to empower communities through economic development, sustainable healthcare and water and sanitation projects, choosing not to focus on short-term medical relief as this is unsustainable.
