My name is Jerome S. Cedo, 37 years old, the only son of Maria Luisa T. Salutim, a resident of the municipality of Calabanga, Camarines Sur, Philippines, would like request for financial assistance for my mother. She is recently in a hospital due to hemorrhagic stroke that rendered the left part of her body paralyzed and left her unable to speak resulting in her feeding that given through naso-gastric tubing.
My mom is a 62 years old widow with three sisters all of whom are also experiencing debilitating diseases such as polio, asthma, rheumatic arthritis and hypertension, leaving only me to shoulder her expenses. Her hospitalization this time is her 3rd with her 1st last October 2018 after her diagnosis of CKD (Stage 5) that required her to undergo dialysis 2-3 times per week. After three weeks in the hospital, she was discharged with weekly dialysis schedules.
Her 2nd admission to the hospital was last January 1, 2019 due to gastro-intestinal bleeding wherein she was admitted straight to the Intensive Care Unit of the Bicol Access Health Centrum Hospital. After colonoscopy and endoscopy, her bleeding had been managed by medications (with the surgical option on standby if the bleeding continued). She was given 5 bags for transfusion since her hemoglobin fell to 5. After 10 days she was once again discharged with dietary restrictions and added gastro-intestinal medications.
Last January 30, 2019, I brought her to the hospital after she suffered a stroke that sent her straight to the Intensive Care Unit where they tried to stabilize her for 10 days. Her condition is being complicated by her renal condition making her intake of mannitol and other medications limited. It had been suggested that the clot in the left part of the brain should be removed through craniotomy to facilitate a gradual recovery. 2 weeks ago, she once again underwent gastric bleeding which she was given 5 bags of blood for transfusion. All in all, mom needs several surgical operations, her dialysis and daily medications. Her 3rd hospital bill which as of today, March 4 2019, more than one month since admission, have a partial cost of 200,000 pesos. All of our savings and other sources of income have been drained during her previous hospital stays. My mom and I are hoping for any help that will hopefully prolong her life and ensure her survival when she leaves the hospital care.
