Well, last April of 2017 had surgery to remove a sesamoid bone that was broken in my big toe. It’s been broken for a while that’s why I was in a lot of pain and was in a boot in the fall of 2016. After that my big toe started overlapping my second toe. It Started hurting really bad, so I finally went back last November of 2017 for the doctor to look at it. That’s when he said I would have to have surgery again to put in screws in my big toe to keep it straight, cut a bone spur that was rubbed from my big toe off my second toe, outside of my foot I had to have a bunion/bone spur cut off because I was rolling my foot because it hurt so bad to walk with the toe overlapping. That surgery was awful. That was on December 20, 2017. My bone shifted after that and we thought it would heal in that spot but after leaving me in the boot for a while longer, when I started walking on it for about 2 weeks the first part of March, I was hurting so bad. So the doctor had to open me back up to insert a titanium plate with six screws in March of 2018. When he went in my foot ended up being shattered. So he put the plate in this past March and I was on crutches for a month, walking boot for a few weeks, and then I was put in a post op shoe for two weeks. Everything kept looking fine until he put me in my post op shoe. I started hurting really bad. I went back he X-rayed it and he came in to tell me my titanium plate broke in half. He said it could stay like that but he put me back in my boot and wanted me to see another doctor to get his opinion on everything. Well, 1he saw the problem where my bone wasn’t complete healed/fused around the plate and a screw popped out of the plate where the Plate broke, so he put me in a cast that day for two weeks (non weight bearing) to see if it will start healing and then I may be able to go back to my boot. Two weeks later I was put in a boot but still non weight bearing. As of now I have not been in a pair of shoes except for the first two weeks in March of 2018. I have two children at the age of 5 and 8. They are very athletic and the hardest part is still having to stay strong for them and trying to still get around for their sake and my husband works swing shift. Just found out I will have to have a fourth surgery to go back in and insert a new plate and do a bone graph/fusion to give me length in my toe that I lost. I will be in a cast for for a minimum of three months and non weight bearing. This has been a very emotional ride especially the last six months. I’m just praying I’m better and walking again by at least Thanksgiving or Christmas. I appreciate everyone who has been praying for me.
