Meals on Wheels – Serving London’s Homeless

What?

In January I will be spending Saturday nights jumping in a van to deliver food directly to the homeless residents of our city.

Why?

The number of homeless people sleeping on the streets of London has more than doubled in the past 5 years and their average life expectancy is a mere 47 years. If this were a country it would be the country with the lowest life expectancy in the world.

Whilst we are complaining about the cold (forecasters warn it will be the coldest and snowiest winter in 6 years) and searching for a mulled wine simply to warm our hands or wishing we could just snuggle up in front of our fireplaces, let's remember that there are increasingly more people struggling to survive on the streets. This is only made worse by rising London rents, lack of affordable housing and cuts to services.
