I'm an Architect, 22 years old currently working in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. I have been fortunate enough to get daily meals as I come from a middle class family background. I had friends in high school who couldn't afford a single time meal. Their parents saved and invested their daily income in their education. They struggled to buy their school uniforms, school bags and other classroom stuff. Some had their lunch boxes empty or half-filled and some didn't had them at all. I grew up experiencing their hardships as mine. Though my father provided me with all necessary things, my heart and hand always had gone to those who were not able to get it. I, as a kid shared my lunchbox, shared my books, shared my pencil box with those people who now are grown up to be independent and have successful careers. I believe in a saying that - "EMPTY POCKETS AND HUNGRY STOMACHS TEACH YOU A LOT IN LIFE." And moreover Hunger is not missing a meal, it's lack of food. Everyday, in my city, we have more than 1/4th of the people sleeping with an empty stomach. Some live in slums, some are not able to afford it, some are homeless, and some get food only once in three days, which is two times a week. This October 2nd, we have decided to raise funds and feed some of them. We planned to serve 5000 people with a plate of healthy meal which would cost 30/- INR per person. A plate of meal includes rice, dal, curry, sambar or rasam, curd (all items cannot restricted and sufficiently served). I served as a volunteer for NGO's in distributing food to slums, underprivileged, rehabilitation centers, orphanages provided by various donors. I am an active volunteer and serve people everytime, not constrained only to my leisure time. Our team has five permanent members including me, and also guest volunteers who are willing to help us with the food distribution. We have acquired food dealings with a small food caterer, who was kind enough to understand our cause and is providing healthy meals for just 30/- INR per plate for 5000 people. I have put the target amount for 1,50,000 INR which would help us to bring a change in their lives for one day. Your contribution to this campaign may not serve millions of people sleeping hungry everyday, but it can fill a few of empty stomachs in my city.
