Maya’s Journey to the Stars

Hi,

My name is Maya Williams Oliver and a few months ago I auditioned for the New York Film Academy when they held them in Johannesburg, South Africa. I applied for a Bachelors in Fine Arts for Acting in Film as it has been my dream to one day see myself on the silver screen. After a month of anxiety and stress I finally heard back from the school; they had awarded me a talent based discount and I was accepted to study for four years. My family and I cried tears of happiness after we heard the news. The happiness, that is still at the corner of our minds, was short lived as we realized that we needed funds. I was brought up by my strong, single, black mother and that came with an abundance of love and support but that unfortunately can't pay for my tuition. From a young age, I would perform and it was one of the few things that made me happy and for this opportunity to present itself just as I have finished high school was either a sign or mere coincidence, either way it made me think that maybe I can make my dreams a reality.

Please help me reach my dream by donating towards my tuition.
