Campaign Story
Im a 37yr old woman who has worked in social work particularly front line Domestic & Family Violence for 13yrs. I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress 14 months ago following a number of traumatic events in the work place. I wasn't diagnosed until 6months after I left work and never applied for workers compensation (I worked in a womens and children's refuge and funding with very tight, if I applied for compensation the women and children would have lost funding) I have not been able to work for for the last 20 months. I still have much to offer and hope to return to study a Masters in Environment and Sustainability transferring some of my adult education & Community Engagement skills across to make a difference in a field that is for our future but also a field I could work in with my now chronic health condition. However the course costs $56,000 and I need to fly to Bond University 7 times over a 14month period to attend intensive classes. Due to my health condition Im seeking ongoing medical support and living with my recently widowed mother (my father passed away earlier this year) I wont be able to study a full time load and work, and have been advised by my medical practitioner to focus on one thing at a time.
I don't have private health insurance, and as Ive not been able to work I though I would try and see if anyone out there might have faith in me and help.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to me
