Do some good today and donate what you’ve paid!

Support the fight of Simuka Africa Youth Foundation against child marriage in Zimbabwe by donating the amount of what you paid for your meal today.

THE ISSUE:

Child marriage, defined as a formal marriage or informal union before age 18, is a reality for both boys and girls, although girls are disproportionately affected by it. Girls married at a young age are disempowered and often deprived from essential rights such as the right to education, health and safety. They are at great risk of being exposed to domestic violence, facing complications in childbirth due to their young age, getting infected with HIV/AIDS and remaining trapped in poverty. Of the 700 million women alive today worldwide that were married as children, 125 million live in Africa.

Zimbabwe’s economic situation and hazardous environmental conditions such as recurring periods of droughts aggravate the situation for young girls in Zimbabwe. Households marry off their young girls in order to cope with the food shortage. A girl married off at a young age means one less mouth to feed in the family.

WHY DONATE:

With making a donation today, you are supporting Simuka Africa’s fight against child marriage in Zimbabwe. Your donation will enable Simuka Africa to provide monthly supply of basic food to girls and young women at risk and survivors of child marriages, as well as provide skills training and starting capital to start income generating activities. Any amount can make a difference to the lives of young people in Zimbabwe!

THE ORGANIZATION:

Simuka Africa Youth Association provides services, facilities and programs that would enable young people and vulnerable communities to realize their fullest potentials. The organization was established in 2006 and is a network of humanitarian projects and community developmental initiatives, supported by institutions such as World Bank, ILO, UNICEF, UNDP, UNVO, VSO and other government departments.

MATCH A MEAL CAMPAIGN:

The Match A Meal Campaign is similar to the existing Skip A Meal Campaign, except that we advocating for better choices for our donors. Instead of encouraging them to give their meals to our beneficiaries through skipping their usual breakfast, lunch or supper, we are now promoting for them to give an equivalent instead. Our aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle and sustainable existence should not only benefit our vulnerable children, but to our sponsors as well.

We have prepared goals for the rebrand, aligned with the dates bookmarked by the United Nations and the sustainable goals they have released in December last year.
