Mary’s Fearless Fight Against Cancer

I am Agatha Christie Zapanta seeking your help in funding the medicine, hospitalization and chemotherapy of my aunt, Mary Ann Zapanta-Loreto, 54 years old. She was diagnosed with Malignant Laryngeal Mass. (See Attached Documents) Her first operation was on March 21, a direct Laryngoscopy with Biopsy.

In the last quarter of 2018, my aunt started to lose her voice. She consulted an ENT who said she had acid reflux. She was under medication until the last quarter of 2019. However, even after the cycle of medications, nothing has changed. Dr. Durian of Manila East told her "HINDI KO NA KAYA GAMUTIN" (I cannot cure it anymore) this was the time he referred her to Dr. Patrick Enriquez of Medical City.

In the first week of March 2020, after getting herself ready emotionally, physically, and financially, my aunt consulted physicians in different hospitals. She was advised to undergo a biopsy.

On March 09, 2020, the result was released and it says “FINDINGS: MALIGNANT.” Everyone was surprises since my aunt has no vice—she doesn’t drink alcohol nor smoke.

We immediately processed her indigency card and sought help from the DSWD for assistance. On March 21, 2020, my aunt went under the knife for a Direct Laryngoscopy with Biopsy since she was found to have MALIGNANT LARYNGEAL MASS.

We were still blessed as we were able to enroll my aunt for assistance from a charity foundation for financial help for her first operation. However, things doesn’t end with the first operation. My aunt still has several laboratory tests and another operation in scheduled.

On May 15, 2020, my aunt had her 2nd consultation with an oncologist. Her doctors are now discussing whether she will undergo chemotherapy first or the 2nd operation.

The expenses are piling up, and in this trying time, almost everyone in our family has no income because of the lockdown. We are also attending to our mother who is also taking expensive maintenance medicines.

Thus, we are reaching out to you, hoping that you could help use with my aunts next operation and chemotherapy.
