Just a quick note that I made an Amazon wishlist for anyone who feels more comfortable donating by selecting from the list and purchasing something I will need. I already have the following (mainly from being a bit of a packrat over the years):

  • queen-size bed frame
  • queen-size mattress
  • bedside table
  • lamps
  • couch
  • TV
  • dinette table
  • chairs
  • bookshelves
  • desk
  • office chair
  • set of 8 dishes & silverware

Items I would consider the most urgent off my Amazon wishlist that I will need are the queen-size bedding set and the pots & pans set.

Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to select something and donate!

My ex and I talked and cried for an hour this morning. It ended up that he couldn't go into work because he was too upset, and had started spiraling, so he called and asked me to pick him up.

Turns out that he was upset about my wording on this fundraiser, because he's been trying to be supportive and helpful. He is not the guy he was 4 years ago, the last time I tried to leave. (If there's one good thing that came out of Trump's election, it's my husband becoming a lot more liberal - he was a conservative libertarian 4 years ago.) He said he's upset I'm leaving but he also knows I need freedom, and that he's proud of me. Also, he's scared about all the responsibilities he's going to be taking on. He's never had to be on top of kids for chores, or make dinner every night, or any of this stuff (our 21-year-old is currently in charge of a lot of that, but she intends to also move out by October).

Unfortunately, things are pretty difficult for him at this time because in addition to my leaving, both of our vehicles, as well as the new riding lawnmower, have broken down. He's feeling the pressure both personally and financially.

All that to say that I wanted to make you all aware that although my husband misses me and hopes for reconciliation, he's being supportive and allowing me my freedom. He has known I was chafing under being a housewife for a long, long time, which is why he supported me through the process of going to school last year. What financial support he can continue to provide me is up in the air because of the breakdowns, but he's supporting me in other ways that do count.

Thank you for your continued support, and I will continue to keep you updated.

The beginning of this campaign has been much more successful than I anticipated and I thank you all for helping me in this endeavor in starting my life anew. In the last couple of days, I have: created a new checking account at a bank where my husband will not have access; deposited paypal funds from the campaign into that account; ordered a debit card from this new institution; and ordered a PayPal debit card so that I can access any balances that have not been deposited in my new account.

The area where I currently live is inundated with people trying to find housing. The apartment complexes are all full, the local landlords are fielding constant calls from people looking for rentals, and I am sixth in line for a tiny furnished studio apartment south of town. My friend who rents houses has one that will become available in August, and although I would have preferred an apartment so that I can avoid needing to fuss with mowing a lawn or shoveling snow, this seems to be my best option. If I end up getting the studio, I can live there month-to-month until the house is free. I will know the status of the studio by Wednesday.

As far as transportation goes, my father is considering my request that he help me out by buying me a car. If he decides not to, I do still have access to the car we were planning to give my oldest daughter after she obtained her driver's license.

Once again, thank you so much for blowing me away with your generosity, and I will continue to keep this campaign updated on my progress.
