Campaign Story
Marti married young, entering an evangelical cult at the same time, and spent 25 years as a stay-at-home mother, subsuming her own opinions for the sake of a husband who did not allow her to have her own freedoms. Eventually, Marti left the cult and began working to gain some independence. Recently, Marti went back to school and learned medical coding, an education that will allow her to get a job in the medical field. However, because of quarantine, she continued to remain at home until deciding to leave her husband.
At this time, Marti needs funds to obtain a car, an apartment, and the ability to pay for travel to the big city for work. She spends a lot on gas so that she can visit her children from her current home base at her parents' house. She is job hunting feverishly and has hopes that an independent life will be possible for her soon.

I will get my first full paycheck on the 5th of August. I've been scraping by, and will continue to do so until my first full paycheck,

After junking my old van and getting a recent donation to the fundraiser, I've been able to tell my dad I can contribute $500 at this time for a vehicle. He's said he'll front me another $5000 on top. . . . .

This was the biggest and hardest step for me in this process, and now I can look at finding a place to live and also hopefully work on obtaining a car. Update posted by Martienne Witsberger at 08:40 pmMy ex and I talked and cried for an hour this morning. It ended up that he couldn't go into work because he was too upset, and had started spiraling, so he called and asked me to pick him up. Turns out that he was upset about my wording on. . . . .
