The MARO shelter does not have access to the city water supply since it is situated in a fairly remote area in Cebu. Over the years, we collect water from rain and manually get water from other water sources like deep wells. During the summer and dry season, we experience immense water shortage as there is less rain and deep wells tend to dry up. We have to buy up to 33 drums of water per week for cleaning purposes which would cost around Php 1000.
MARO has been facing this water shortage problem for years. As more animals are being housed in the shelter, the more water is needed. Since water is essential to the shelter, it is very necessary to address this problem.
Fortunately, we were allowed to access a deep well for Php 500/month but this deep well is far from the shelter. A pump installation is needed which requires a strong pump and a lot of hose and wires for it to work.
We are seeking for help with the bills for the pump installation reaching PHP 55,000 already to
Eurostar 1.5 HP Deep Well Water Pump – PHP 19500
Hose (2x 150 meter ) - PHP 8800
Electric Wire (300 meter ) – PHP 12000
Labor – PHP 8000
Other costs include:
Valves (Php 1350 for 2 pcs), Float Switch (Php 1200), Breaker, PVC Pipes, adapters, ellbows, reducers, connectors, cement sacs, steel bars, angle bars, welding rods, GI wire, etc.
