Our good friend, Marni, has had a tough time over the past 14 months. Many of you may know, that in July 2020, Marni was hit by a car while riding her bike and broke multiple bones. She has spent several days a week since then going to rehab appointments and has amazed us all by her resilience and determination. Marni had come so far and was finally getting her life back on track when, on September 5th, while enjoying a beautiful day on her brand new bike, she was struck by a car that failed to stop at a stop sign. The driver was immediately charged with careless driving.
For Marni, the road ahead will be a long one. She is in hospital now, recovering from surgery on a broken femur. She will spend the next 4 weeks in hospital, and a rehab facility. Beyond this, she will face ongoing physio appointments and other therapies to facilitate her recovery. Realistically, Marni will not be able to work for at least 6 months. Needless to say, she is devastated. It has taken everything Marni had to get through the first nightmare. She is questioning her ability to do it again. Of course, we all know that she will not be alone.
Marni is naturally concerned about her health and getting home to her beloved rescue cat, Izzy, but she is also concerned about her dog walking business. She’s worried about the loss of income and whether or not she will have any clients left after going through all of this again.
Together, we can help Marni with the loss of income, by raising money to help get her through this challenging time.
It has taken a lot of convincing to get Marni to agree to be helped — of course she would prefer we give all our money to nonhuman animals — So let’s help get Marni back on her feet, so she can get back to helping nonhuman animals!
Thank you for any amount you can spare!
