Marks Miracle

Hi, my name is Sylvie Julien and I (along with our community) are desperately trying to raise funds for Mark, my spouse

This is Mark, love incarnate, our dear friend, and friend to anyone – bipedal or otherwise - in need of the love that so readily flows from his heart.

An eclectic, fascinating, colourful and uncommonly warm gentle-male with an open door to friends and all those in need of mending (People and little beasties alike)

We’ve all seen Coconut (a tiny Vervet monkey) being bottle-fed or Kutut (the little hand-reared Bush Baby) bounce across their kitchen counter or in Marks shirt pocket for rest. On any given morning, the wild green parrots and pigeons perch in nearby trees always find their way back to Mark and Sylvie who have hand raised so many of them too. Besides the three wild and regal Genet cats and countless beach dogs that call their house home, they also pack a little extra every day to feed stray animals en-route to work.

Theirs is the couch you crash on when life is more taxing than normal because you will always be wrapped in a cocoon of kindness, support and love. Theirs is the table that you are forever welcome to sit at, bet it your darkest hour, or the height of merrymaking. It’s with them, bathing in their radiating love, that you feel most welcome.

Have you noticed how when a window shatters or a painting drops, the sound is vociferous and yet with a breaking heart or despair, the dissonant silence rings so loud that your head aches. Perhaps it’s a blessing that none of us can tell the future else very few of us would get out of bed. None of us are prepared to be robbed of Mark and lose him to Cancer. Not if something can be done, and there is much to be done.

To quote Marian Williamson , This is the pressing work to be done and in every heart, there is the power to do it. Help us plant and tend the seeds of a miracle by raising enough funds for his treatment.

Mark is proof of everything that can go right with humanity. The world is not ready to lose him – we aren’t ready to lose him. After countless lives enriched and saved, it’s our turn. The stoic, resolute hero is in need of saving. Should you contribute to his miracle, we will as far as possible – document his unfurling healing through regular pictures and posts. In the end, we will all celebrate the seemingly impossible. We may not be the surgeon’s hands but we do hold the keys to the reclamation of his life.
