Hello my name is Mark Anthony and my success starts with a dream. I have entered the world of cars at the age of 3, and have been hooked ever since. I grew up watching F1, Champ Car ( yeah, the good old days) and Nascar. At second grade I was introduced to Le mans and from then on I knew that’s what I wanted to do. I was born in 1991, and that dream hasn’t changed since. Reality is though, that racing is a very closed circuit. Quite simply it’s a rich people sport. Most professionals dad’s (there aren’t many woman) were professionals, and there fathers before them were too.
I look back and notice something wrong. Motorsports is at the worse point it’s ever been and I wonder why. Like our Country when something is so badly ravished the only thing able to save it is a change. And I knew change had to be done. I long for the day racing, real racing can be enjoyed the same way basketball, or football, or basball can be enjoyed. I believe our sport is often misunderstood, and people don’t see the hard work that goes into it. That it’s not just drivers, it’s a team effort, everything matters. And this so called thing “luck” is the last thing to get you across the finish line.
I want to be the fist successful African American Race car driver. I want to see actual circuit racing… the pinnacle of the whole car industry at the top again. I want to see that when I turn on speed channel. Not NASCAR. I don’t want to have to buy extra channels to enjoy things like INDY or Top Gear.
But I also realize I have to be the one to change it. I’ll start my own Tv Network if I have to. There’s a a quote I live by,
“Be the change you want to see in the world” – Mahatma Gandhi
And I never forget it. My first step is to attend Skip Barber racing school. At the graduation of themost prestigous racing school in the world, based right here in America. I receive my professional racing License. Sanctioned by any racing series in the world. That is the first step.
