As we work from home these days due to COVID-19, do you see how much bluer the sky seems and how much cleaner the air is now that we do not travel?
We should be concerned.
Shipping remains an essential life blood component of our economy enabling trade at large; yet it is also extremely polluting. The industry is expected to grow as we enjoy the benefits of trade.
The need for the elimination of these emissions via Shore Power availability at ports remain a tremendous possibility for decarbonisation - now. Unfortunately, the technology is rarely spoken about in the mainstream media; which focus a lot on new technologies which are unfortunately far away in the future.
A study conducted by the British Ports Association found that all of the existing shore power facilities globally are partially/fully funded by governments due the high investment cost. Why?
The headline "Shipping decarbonisation needs more than $1 trillion investment" was widely report earlier this year.
This fund-raiser is designed to start a grass roots funding campaign to encourage ports to invest in the necessary shore power facilities collaboratively, where any ROIs after investment recovery will be re-injected in to
1) further expansion investments,
2) this campaign, or,
3) other green campaigns.
Here is what it would like if done right...
I look forward to your generous support and contributions. Thank you.
We can only do it together.
