I’m off to Madagascar!

Hi guys,

I’ve decided to set up this fundraising account to help support my conservation trip away to Madagascar in the summer of 22’.

I’ve had a passion for marine life for many many years, and it’s always been a dream of mine to help conserve these beautiful creatures that inhabit within our seas. For many many years, there has been a rapid decline of our planets most precious ecosystems that make up our oceans, and I have finally reached a place in my life where I can make this important decision and seize the opportunity to give a little bit back to our planet! Any donations made will go towards my airfare, program fees, and travel insurance.

Here’s a little info about the marine conservation program I have decided to take part in -

On 20/06/22, I will fly to Nosy Komba island where I will take part in a 6 week marine conservation program put together by ‘The Mighty Roar’. As a volunteer on this marine conservation project, I will have the opportunity to join a variety of conservation efforts focused on the protection of the marine ecosystem in Madagascar. I will be working alongside a local team who are registered NGO approved in collecting vital research data of the health of the coral reefs, and all the marine life that call it home.

This will include some of the activities;

Reef Surveying- Collection of a time-series data recording the diversity and abundance of fish, invertebrates, and reef building organisms through reef surveys at various sites.

Turtle monitoring- Whilst diving and snorkelling, I will actively seek sea turtles to continue the work on establishing an estimated inventory of turtles using the reef surrounding the island as well as establish an annual population census.

Nudibranch Research- Carrying out surveys to determine the species density and biodiversity of nudibranchs in the area as well as associated substrates.

Beach cleans- On a regular basis, I will clean specific beaches to clear them of any debris and litter, helping to save the lives of the marine organisms.

Artificial reef structures- When the project allows, I will be able to assist in constructing artificial reef structures to deploy in the surrounding waters, as well as at the marine national park of Tanikely Island. By increasing the coral reef size and health in the area, the hope is that the coral will be able to generate quicker and create more homes for marine life.

Thank you for taking the time to look over my page. I will immensely appreciate any donations received. ❤️
