Maricris Advincula, or 'Ate Mayet' as we call her, has been battling cancer since January 2011. She has 2 sons, namely Sean Gabriel (12) and Miguel Quentin (10) and is a wife to Eric. Even though her battle against cancer got the best of her, she still remains the jolly person that we know, and I can personally attest to that. Battling cancer is tough, and will exhaust one's emotions, physique, and even finances. Hence, we have made this GoGetFunding campaign, to sustain, at least financially and, perhaps, emotionally, her long-standing battle against cancer. To the one reading this, you may be a stranger, or someone we barely know, or someone intimate to us, your financial help will mean a lot, most especially to Ate Mayet. Additionally, even the fact that you are reading this is help enough not only to Ate Mayet, but to every cancer patient there is out there as it spreads awareness that cancer is a disease that is hard to battle against and that one should always put his/her health as a priority. Your prayers and any amount of financial support is deeply and greatly appreciated. Again, we thank you for your time reading this GoGetFunding campaign. God bless you!

Ate Mayet's Battle against Cancer:

(Disclaimer: Not all dates include the actual day)

May 2011 - She found a lump in her left breast, and she saw that her left breast is somewhat deformed due to the lump.

June 2, 2011 - She sought medical help. After her checkup, it was found that she has Breast Cancer Stage 3A.

June 29, 2011 - Her doctor advised her to have an operation which requires her left breast to be removed. The operation is called MRM or Modified Radical Mastectomy

After the operation, she was declared cancer-free. Until after 4 years, another type of cancer was diagnosed.

January 2015 - After being cancer-free for 4 years, during this time, she felt bloated and felt the need to have a check-up. The check-up (transvaginal/transabdominal ultrasound) revealed that she has a malignant tumor in her ovaries.

March 19, 2015 - She had a successful operation. The operation required her reproductive system to be removed.

After the said operation, her doctors advised her to undergo chemotherapy, but, due to her fear of the pain she has to experience while doing chemotherapy, she politely declined. She then resorted to eating only organic food. She deemed it hard to do at first, but eventually got used to it. She juices organic vegetables and fruits, and also did coffee enema to clear her colon.

January 2017 - During the first week of this month, she felt bloated again. As the days went by, her stomach grew to an alarming size. She lost her appetite and was not able to eat well. During the second week, she went to have a checkup (ultrasound) and eventually got the advice from her doctors to have an operation. The operation was successful. It revealed that the ascitic fluid in her stomach was positive for malignant cells favoring Adenocarcinoma (a type of cancerous tumor that can occur in several parts of the body). She still has not undergone chemo.

February 2017 to March 2017- During the second week of this month, she had a difficulty in breathing, and thought to herself that it was normal since she has gone thinner. It was only until March her difficulty in her breathing progressed; she needed to address the matter. She went on to see her doctor and the tests performed (ultrasound and X-ray) revealed that there is a water buildup inside her lungs.

April 2017 - She had an operation on April 2, this is with regards to the water buildup inside her lungs. The pleural fluid (water on lungs) contained adenocarcinoma cells, the same cells that were found in the ascitic fluid in her stomach. After the operation, her difficulty in breathing eased, and she gained back her appetite. Although she still has a tube connected to her lungs to drain out the remaining fluid inside, she has felt better as compared before.

April 21, 2017 - At around 9:30pm, she felt numbness in her hands all the way up to her shoulders. Her mother, Nanay Lily, noticed that her mouth is somewhat shaking. Fearing it might lead to or it might be a stroke, we immediately rushed her to the hospital. Upon arriving at the Emergency Room, she was confined and her vital signs were checked. A few moments later, it was confirmed that she suffered a stroke; this is due to the fact that she has cancer and cancer patients are more likely to experience a stroke. Machines were attached to her to check her blood pressure and heart rate. She had two seizures. She had to be intubated because her respiratory rate is low. She was admitted in the ICU (intensive care unit) to further assess her situation.

April 22, 2017 - She is now conscious, and can respond a little bit. An MRI was performed and it revealed that she has an infection in the lungs, a tumor in the brain, and a tumor in her stomach. Her doctor insisted that she should undergo radiation therapy to remedy her situation.

April 23-24, 2017 - She is fully conscious, and can even write. She is very responsive to us and responds through writing. As per what we see, her situation is improving. But the doctor insisted the radiation therapy to be done as soon as possible. She said that the tumor in her brain has the possibility to trigger another seizure.

She is still battling against cancer, and she has no plans on surrendering or giving up. For her children, for her husband, for her family, and for herself.

Updates on her battle against cancer will be posted here. Thank you for visiting!
