After 5 units of bood, daddy’s hemoglobin level is now up at 9.1 (started with 8 after operation, it was at 11.3 pre-op). Doctors advised for another blood transfusion on Friday. Thankfully, a lot expressed their willingness to donate blood when needed, so we now have a pool of donors we can tap into. Anyone is welcome to join the pool. We can never tell when we need another transfusion. Thank you!

Daddy’s last cystoscopy was last 27 June 2018. What was supposed to be a routine operation (that was his 4th) turned put to be the most excruciating experience for him. He was squirming in pain for several days and the doctors couldn’t removed his catheter just yet. They needed to make sure that there were no more blood clots inside his bladder or else it would be more painful for daddy. They decided to discharge him from the hospital on 1 July 2018, still with the catheter attached to him. This is the reason why he needed several blood transfusions.

On 2 July 2018, during his regular dialysis, it was discovered that his AV graft (the access used for dialysis) was blocked for unknown reasons. He had to undergo an emergency operation to place an IJ catheter (an access used for immediate dialysis) in his neck.

So all this time, Daddy was feeling the pain in his bladder and the burden of having to move around with 2 catheters. Last 4 July, we had to go back to PGH since his catheter was blocked, the doctors flushed out all the blood clots again but suggested that we get admitted to be observed and for a possible emergency operation again. Thankfully, we were able to negotiate with the doctor and he agreed that we just observe at home.

On 7 July, Daddy returned to PGH for assessment again and we are very grateful that the doctors found his bladder good enough to remove the catheter. Now he can move around with one less worry and no pain.

We will continue to update this campaign for information of donors. We aim that our parents continue to liv a “normal” life. It may not be free from illness but we pray that they may be free from pain.

Thank you.
