Sir Serge Bautista was my computer studies teacher back in highschool at Don Bosco Academy Pampanga, he was a cool teacher and a loving family man, recently he was diagnosed with cancer but his doctors still can't figure out what type of cancer it is. Sir Serge dedicated his life to teaching and he certainly helped a lot of young boys, including me to realize that it is not worth messing things up in the long run. All of the proceeds will benefit Sir Serge's medical and personal expenses. Don't let a good guy down. Help Mang Mags.
P.S: Donations currently go to MY PERSONAL paypal account, gogetfunding required me to link a paypal account to activate the fundraiser and get it online. Let's show the world you don't stop being a Bosconian after 4 years in highschool.
Questions you might have:
Q: Who are you?
A: James Moffat, from Batch 06 section JP2, sir serge was my computer teacher all my stay at DBA.
Q:I don't have a paypal account but I want to donate.
A:That is fine, just follow the path once you click the donate button, put your credit/debit card information and your billing address and that's that.
Q:I don't want to donate money but I want to help, how?
A:As simple as sharing this page will be good enough. If you are an oncologist now or you know someone who is and Sir Serge was your teacher before maybe you can hook him up with some discounts or something that could lessen the financial burden of cancer treatment.
Q:Are you aware of their financial situation? *UPDATE!!!* (5/11/17)
A: I spoke to Maám Lang today 5/11/17 and currently they are getting by which is a good thing. Sir Serge was recommended to undergo 30 radiation therapy sessions and by the looks of it, they are doing it daily, he's on his 20th session now but the chemo plan hasn't been set yet, will update you all with that
Q:What if they told you they don't need all of these help and donation, what will you do? *UPDATE!!!* (5/11/17)
A:Not gonna happen, Maám Lang is just so grateful with this community effort.
Q:Where do all of these donations go? *UPDATE!!!* (5/11/17)
A: As of writing (5/11/2017) I still have MY paypal account connected to the fundraiser, the reason is, I can't make the fundraiser online unless I have a paypal account hooked up, luckily I have one, albeit not being used in quite some time but still functioning as far as I know. Apparently Maám Lang and Sir Serge don't have any sort of paypal account so for the meantime we will just raise as much as we can close to the target amount so I can just handover a check to them that they can deposit themselves OR tentatively MAY 20, 2017 whichever comes sooner.
Q:When does it become available for withdrawal by Sir Serge and his beneficiaries?
A:It becomes available in paypal right away, then transferring from paypal to their bank account for cash withdrawal will take 2-4 business days.
Q:Does Maám Lang/Sir Serge know anything about it? *UPDATE!!!* (5/11/17)
A: Just talked to Maám lang and was made aware of what the situation is, she very much appreciates what we all are doing.
Q:Why just 100k? It's not enough to cover cancer treatment
A:I know but more than the financial help, this is a sign of solidarity and that we will never forget where we came from and we will always go back to our roots but aside from that 100k is totally attainable with the number of students Sir Serge had all these years, just setting the bar realistically
Q:Is there a time limit for donations? *UPDATE!!!* (5/12/17)
A: Yes there is May 20, 2017 but we can still exceed the target amount before MAY 20, 2017. I originally configured the fundraiser to continue indefinitely so everyone will have a constant channel where we can help Sir Serge out but apparently Maám Lang and Sir Serge Don't have any access to paypal so there's no way I can transition this to them unless they create one, but paypal does this thing about holding out money for new accounts up to 90 days so yeah, I don't think that will be viable right now, and as much as I want to, I, realistically won't be able to keep up with this in the long run (I got to work and I have a family you know). Just in case another need arises (hopefully not), we can always open another fundraiser to help a fellow.
Q:Are you getting paid for this? Do you get a cut out of the contributions? *UPDATE!!!* (5/12/17)
A:Absolutely not, I'm doing this out of my own volition while I'm working full time.
Q: Will Maam Lang and Sir Serge get the raised contributions in full? *UPDATE!!!* (5/12/17)
A: Yes, I'll cut a check for them for the whole collected contribution but Gogetfunding.com charges as low as 4% out of every donation, it automatically gets deducted once it reaches my paypal account, the accounting is there, there is also a transaction fee for transferring money from paypal to a PH bank account, I'll post all of the accounting here once the funds are ready for transferring.
Q:What will happen if we reached that 100k target but people still want to donate?
A:That is better, we can donate way pass the target amount
Q:What will happen to the donations if we never reached the 100k target?
A: this crowdfunding site, compared to others, makes funds available right away, so once you donate it goes to the connected paypal account in seconds and gets available for withrawal.
Q:Can I donate again even if I already did once?
A:Absolutely
Q:How would we know that this is not a scam act?
A:Trust me, it's not, I'll post updates from time to time and I will update everyone once I got the fundraiser over to Sir Serge or Ma'am Lang
Q:How can we contact you just in case?
A:You can reach me out using the message function here in gogetfunding, I'll try to answer as much as I can and as soon as possible but I can't promise when I can get back at you, you can text or call me too, but I sleep in the day so I'll try my best to accomodate questions.
That's all
