Mama Toring’s Will to Live

My Mama Toring had raised her 12 children well even after she became a widow in 1985. She would engage herself into all kinds of food-selling business to feed her children and send them to school. She hurdled all kinds of difficulties and offered all her sacrifices to God in order to give children a better future.

Before her illness had hit her the hardest, she was running a small-scale variety store at home. Her meager income had supported her needs from food to bills and even her prescription medications. It was only in the later part of 2018 that she started to get hospitalized due to difficulty in breathing. Since then she was in and out of the hospital with the diagnosis: Pulmonary Edema and Chronic Tubulointestinal Nephrites and Calculus of Kidney. She was then advised for hemodialysis but calculating the expenses she had decided not to go for treatment.

On January 13, 2020 Mama was rushed to the hospital due to difficulty in breathing. She got intubated and was confined in the ICU for 6 days.

After I had signed a DNR waiver she was moved to a regular room with a pressurized oxygen. Two days later Mama requested to be discharged against medical advised because apparently her desire is to die at home with her family.

Thank God Mama has survived. She goes for hemodialysis thrice a week. Her will to live is so strong and her smile is always priceless everytime she comes home from hemodialysis feeling better and breathing normally.

I Appeal From the Abundance of Your Heart

Being a Religious, I can only pray for the total healing of Mama and that God will lead us to more generous people to assist us in our financial needs. We had incurred a debt of Php150,000.00 from Mama's Mama's January 13-21 ICU confinement and hospitalization. And she goes for hemodialysis thrice a week. This is my heart's desire that while Mama is still alive that she won't be deprived of treatment needed to lessen her suffering. She had more than enough suffering in raising her 12 children alone as a widow so I thought this is the least we can do as her children as our gratitude to her. Hence, I appeal from the abundance of your heart to help us in this difficult time of our Mama Toring's life's journey. I can only bend my knees to God and pray rhat your generosity be rewarded a hundredfold.

Some of my siblings are putting in only a little bit of help because they have also families to look after. Some others are taking turns of looking after our dear Mama Toring as she needs assistance round the clock.
