Mama Leonie

Mama Leonie, .. seeing this vibrant beautiful woman lying in a hospital bed, knowing only specialized care and medical intervention can give her back to her family is heart breaking.

Throughout her life she has been the angel in so many lives and now she needs Angels to be in her life, please be her Angel today!

Let me tell you about Leonie, Leonie is the oldest daughter of a family that laughs, lives and always stick together, she is the daughter that takes care of her frail mother, the sister that always makes things better and lets sunshine in to her brothers and sisters. She is the wife, mother and grandmother that carries a family banner wherever she goes, taking care of everyone, bringing laughter to all situations and making problems dissolve.

Four days ago, Leonie was taken to emergency care of the Life Peglerae Hospital in Rustenburg after collapsing at work. There it was established that she has a bleeding brain aneurism and that the blood from this aneurism has caused brain swelling and that the blood needed to be drained from the brain in surgery.

Because Leonie couldn’t afford a medical aid her family had to pay for the procedures that needed to be done in all haste in order to give her a lifesaving chance, and within hours they got together the R295 000 that was needed and by 4 o’clock that afternoon Leonie was wheeled to theatre where the bleeding on the brain was drained.

Currently Leonie is still in an induced coma and cannot be moved as any change or movement may cause her blood pressure to rise and start bleeding from the aneurism once again, she needs to kept stable until such time that she can be moved to the Unitas hospital's brain unit in Centurion for brain surgery to bind off or coil the bleeding aneurism.

The estimated cost to keep her in ICU care until such time that she can be moved has been quoted by the Life Peglerae Hospital at just under R300 000, and moving her now will narrow her chances on survival to the minimum, so if you could please help us to get our amazing friend, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and wife back to laugh with us once more we will be forever thankful.
