Mama Genie’s Medical Assistance

We decided to raise this campaign to aid us in providing medical services to our mom, Genie Cuanan. She was diagnosed with a stage 4 cancer but up until now, after 3 different biopsies, the cancer source is still not known.

She recently underwent a spine replacement (metal implants) surgery that costed 500,000 pesos just for that alone. This is because multiple metastatic cancer cells have been located in her spine that compresses her cord causing inability in her lower extremities. She started to lose strength in her legs around early january 2021 and was unable to sleep properly (even with the help of tramadol 3x a day) because of that condition.

She also had pulmonary disease that costed 200,000 pesos to be treated.

Overall, we have spent 1,000,000 pesos already in a span of 2 months, with almost half of that as debt and to be paid to different people.

Right now, she is out of the hospital and is staying at her brother's house. She was about to start her radiotherapy sessions to cure the cancer but is was found out that she currently has pulmonary edema and that needs to be treated first before the radiotherapy can proceed. She is under an Oxygen supply, which costs 500 pesos every 2 days, due to shortness of breath. She also needs daily dose of an injection for her blood not to thicken, which costs 1200 pesos per shot, 2x a day. She is still in severe pain due to the metastatic cells growing back.

We have reached out to finacial aid centers and politicians and have received numerous aids before totalling to 200,000 pesos, and we are very thankful for everyone who helped but as it is, we are trying but are not financially capable of supporting her condition. Estimated, she needs 70,000 per week.
