I have decided to volunteer abroad with Quest Overseas and get hands-on experience working side-by-side with local people in Malawi. The world is facing challenging times and I want to do my part to help make a difference and learn about global issues.
Any contributions you wish to make will go towards the cost of the project, which covers my pre-departure support, in-country orientation, on-site activities, accommodation in a basic but safe shared dormitory, all meals and bottled water, local transportation and much more.
In order to raise these funds, I will also be taking part in a 10k run and other possible fund raising activities.
Understanding the perspectives of people overseas is a critical first step for me, I am excited to become an international volunteer and help in any way that I can. I will be volunteering for a month in Malawi where I will be working as part of a team alongside the community. As we are working closely with the community and their current issues it is unsure what the exact project will be focusing on this year, however this will be made apparent closer to the time of departure. The work in previous years has been on rebuilding the devastations caused by flooding. This project will not only allow me to gain new perspectives on the issues facing Malawi, but more importantly will really make a difference to the people of my host community.
Founded in 1996, Quest Overseas is an ethical volunteering organisation that operates volunteering projects in Africa and South America in partnership with sustainable community initiatives. If you would like to research into Quest Overseas further, their website www.questoverseas.com is very comprehensive and will provide you with all the information necessary. Your support would be extremely valued, and I would appreciate any contribution you can make to help me by April the 15th. The overall trip will take place between July 16th and August 15th, however I need to raise the funds 3 month prior to departure.
Thank you so much for any support you may have given.
