Malawi Schools System project

PROHARD-WEB is a group of Computer Science graduates with a vision to improve education in Malawi and we believe that with the help of computers, combined with some Software Development, education can get better therefore we have developed a Computer based System that aims at bringing evidence based education system by collecting real time data while reducing and possibly replace the use of paper based record in primary schools.

This software not only ensure that student’s data is available at all the times to both parents and teachers for reference in order to track student performance and ensure students stay in school e.g. attendance record of student but also for government and non-governmental organizations to use the data for strategic planning.

The software is going to provide a single base where all the schools will be linked, where by if a student gets transferred from one school to the other, all his records will also be transferred to that school this ensure continuity of data collection. The software has the potential to be better that other ways of addressing the education challenges e.g. collecting attendance record by teachers, we found out that teachers do not collect attendance because they do not have stationary or some are reluctant even not motivated to do so hence with this software the attendance sheet has been developed on a mobile platform where it will be installed on teachers phone and use it to collect daily attendance this way teachers will be interested and excited to take attendance.

We believe attendance record is the basis of tracking student performance that is why we ensured that the application is user friendly. The data will be collected in real time with indicators tailored to the Malawi education system hence the data will give clear indications on what is happening on the ground in the education sector e.g. performance of people with special needs, districts which have few enrollment of girls in school which will help other organizations that have programs that promote and encourage girls to be or go back to school to take those districts as their areas of interest.
