I am the single mother of two children, on the backside of a 3 1/2 year long drawn out divorce. Before the separation/divorce my children were able to attend the best independent schools in our city and arguably our state, with the help of scholarships. Because of job loss even with financial help from the school I was no longer able to keep up the payments for their school and I had to make the gut wrenching decision to remove them from their Faith-based educational institutions to public schools for the 2012-2013 school year.

This year has been incredibly hard on them. They both started their schools when they were in preK (ages 3 and 4) and are now 11 and 8. They miss their schools immensely as do I. My daughters school is an all girls school were she is encouraged not only to respect herself but to carry herself in a way a young lady should. She was given the opportunity to openly express herself and thrived in that environment. She is very intelligent and she was always given material that challenged her and allowed her self confidence to grow.

My son was at a school whose motto is proudly "Building boys....Making Men." He was in an environment that allowed him to be 110% boy while instilling Godly principles that he will be able to use the remainder of his life. He was encouraged to pray for his personal family, his friends, and to pray for people that didn't know Jesus Christ as their personal savior. I really feel like that was the best environment for him, no longer having a positive father figure in his life, this school really enabled him to learn and accept his role and a young man. It gave him a real sense of purpose.

They have tried to be troopers about their current school, but as their mom, I see the weight on their little hearts and spirits. Once excited about school and learning, I now have to drag them out of bed. My son has unarguably lost a year academically, at the end of last school year he was learning multiplication, he is currently relearning double addition, but only enough to meet the minimum school requirements for the standardized tests they will be taking in a couple of weeks.

I am cognizant of the fact that I have much to be thankful for. My children are for the most part happy and healthy. They have never gone to bed hungry, and never not had a safe place to sleep at night. I guess as their mom I see so much potential for them and their future and I hate seeing it wasted away in an environment that I don't fee really fosters their individual educational and spiritual needs.

Glory to God I recently got a job that will enable me to financially take care of their educational needs, but because there is a balance at their schools, I wasn't able to apply for scholarships or help for the 2013-2014 school year and I would really like for them to be able to go back this year.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated and it would help me cut down on the previous balance and give the schools the comfort of knowing that at least this next school year tuition will be taken care of. I thank you for taking the time to look over my story. Thank you for helping in anyway you can whether it is financially or prayerfully.
