Making the Tardis

So here's the deal. My 2004 Volkswagon Golf just recently got it's name after shuttling 5 people, 2 wigs, 2 swords, and 7 1/2 bags COMFORTABLY for a 4 hour journey. My friends thereby dubbed it the Tardis because it's so much bigger on the inside.

Well, I'd like to make the Tardis actually look like the Tardis, and that means painting it Tardis blue. Well I talked to my mechanic and he said that repainting it can cost anywhere between $6000-$7000. I'm a broke college student who doesn't have that money laying around. If I can't raise the money, oh well, I don't NEED my car repainted, but it would be a nice thing for a Whovian to have.
