Making Malungahu Memories

        Please help fulfill Vai's bucket list by sending her and her family to New Zealand to see her biological brothers and Grandma one last time. Vai came to the U.S. from Tonga when she was 5 years old. She left behind 3 older brothers, Kometi, Sefo and Samuela. After being in the U.S. for a couple years she fell ill. After a lot of testing she was diagnosed with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy. This was not genetic. Vai had a virus that attacked her heart and the only treatment to save her life was a heart transplant which she received when she was 9 years old. Vai has fought many bouts of rejection and pulled through. This year she had a tricuspid valve repair and she also had a pacemaker put in. Vai's condition continues to deteriorate and we received news that she had cardiac allograft vasculopathy which is a form of coronary artery disease specific to transplant patients. Her disease has progressed very rapidly and is throughout her heart. There is no treatment or procedure to slow down it's progression. Vai has been given a prognosis of a couple months to live. While in the U.S. Vai was adopted by her first cousin Taylor and his wife Jessica. Vai's wish has always been to be able to go back and see her Grandmother and biological brothers in New Zealand and Tonga. She had also told her parents when she passes that she would like to be buried with her grandfather in New Zealand. We are accepting donations to help make her wish of seeing her brothers and Grandmother possible. This is her only desire with her life expectancy.
