The plan is to buy the island of Linga in the Shetland Islands (near the town of Walls) and build a homestead there. There are 2 derelict cottages on the island which I would renovate. Setting aside some land for growing vegetables as well as keeping a few sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits and bees. I would also like to create a lot of woodland on the island (at least 50% cover) for biodiversity, firewood and as shelter from the elements. I would create hedgerows for biodiversity and the fruits and nuts that can be harvested. There is the possibility of creating a large pond for trout farming as well. The end goal will be to have an environmentally friendly, sustainable homestead.
