Making a Difference – Volunteering in Sri Lanka

Although not all, many areas of Sri Lanka are very poor. As such, their budget is stretched to provide basic necessities, such as food and water, leaving the construction and renovation of schools and hospitals, including their books, medications and health supplies, a very low priority. I believe that every human being has the right to education, health care, and safe shelter – three goals towards which 100% of my time and efforts in Sri Lanka will be directed. This summer I am hoping to volunteer in Sri Lanka for 2 weeks; there, I will spend my days helping to build schools, homes, and/or hospitals, as well as teaching and interacting with the local children, in my free time. In order to participate in this project, I will need to raise a total sum of approximately $5000 dollars, which will cover the flights, placement fee, vaccinations, travel visa and insurance.
