Hi there,  I know that as compared to the other fundraisers, my "project" might not be or seem to be as important, however, it is actually extremely important to me. Ever since I was 8, my dream was to visit Africa (specifically Tanzania) one day and actually be able to view Lions up close and personal. As the distance between Africa and Singapore is a long way, the air fare is already not that affordable, much less the tour packages. Being 18, I am quite short of money to actually plan this trip.  Due to financial burden, especially my school fees, I have not left my city/country (even for a road trip) for plenty of years now. Surrounded by friends who often leave the country like thrice (at least) a year for holidays and school trips, the furthest I ever get to leaving the country is to the airport, to send them off, as I return home. Yes, I know I should be thankful to even have a home to return to - and I am, very in fact. However, I still wish to leave the country to take a breather from the fast paced life here in Singapore. Stressed by school, family issues, even due social issues and especially finding myself, I feel trapped as I never get the chance to "run away and escape my problems" and just see things anew.  I faced some emotional/psychological issues a couple of years ago and I really hope that escaping that deep dark phase of my life would be permanent. I really would like to be able to go on this journey to Africa and eliminate the build up of harsh feelings that could eventually lead me back to the heartache and psychological pain I faced before. Juggling between part-time work on the weekends and 8 long hours of school (sometimes up to 11 hours, excluding assignments and examinations), I am indeed trying to raise the money by myself. I do not want to burden my parents anymore as like I said I'm 18, and the money they've spent to raise me and pay for the thousands of dollars my school fees cost and all the medical bills from the burdensome medical conditions I've had since I was a baby.  As it is said, that life is short and we should live each day to the fullest. I may not know what would happen tomorrow. And I want to do that. I want to be able to at least fulfil my heart's desire before it's too late. Yes I know I may be young and still have plenty of time to go to Africa in the future but there is still that worry, that I will not make it that far.  I currently have about 1.5 thousand dollars saved up for the trip from a bursary from the government for financial assiatance and I'm working as hard as possible during the holidays to save up more in order to be able to afford a trip. I am short of about 3000 USD and I hope my (long) but honest story has persuaded you to help me achieve my dream. Even a dollar would be much appreciated.  Even if you have decided not to give to my personal cause, I would like to thank you for even just taking the time to read what I have wrote here, up till the end- and listening to my story :)
