Make My Dream Come True - Martial Arts World Championships 2019
The US Open is acknowledged as being “The Greatest Show in Martial Arts”, and as the “World's Most Prestigious Martial Arts Tournament”.
Each year, the US OPEN and ISKA World Martial Arts Championships weekend presents an experience unique to the martial arts. The location itself is in the heart of Disney World and sets the stage for a fun and magical weekend of thrilling competition and activities for everyone.
The US OPEN brings together the world'svery best competitors, teams, coaches, spectators, and officials for a weekend of inspiring performances and the most memorable of good times.
The US OPEN aims to be the most exciting and enjoyable event of the year! Since 2007, NMA-ISKA (South Africa) have been represented annually by a team of our country’s finest competitors. Over 3,500 competitors from over 50 countries will be participating in the 2018 Tournament.
I train at Paul Caves Mixed Martial Arts Academy and started Kickboxing in February 2012 and have a brown belt. I am also one of the junior trainers in the dojo and plans on achieving a black belt within the next year or two.
Three years after a row I have qualified to the South African Team Selection (Sports Full Contact – 2nd place in 2015, 1st place in 2016, 1st place in 2017) and I will also be qualifying again to be selected to attend next year’s International Sports Karate Association (ISKA) World Championships in Orlando Florida. Due to the massive financial implications involved with this trip, I have realized the need to get funding. The costs for airfares, hotel accommodation, competition entrance fees, the required South African kit and various pieces of equipment necessary to participate has been calculated at approximately R60000.
