Campaign Story
My 80 year old mother has been taken by a scam artist to the tune of $1,800.00 which she withdrew from her Social Security savings.
My mother is 1st generation American. Her mother and father were born in Mexico. She has relatives here and in mexico.
Recently, she received a call from Mexico from a man speaking Spanish -- "Can you guess who this is?" he exclaimed! My mother guessed, Tony? Lola's son?
As you can probably guess, "Tony." the scammer, now had the perfect "in."
It's not hard to imagine what followed, but suffice to say Tony was coming to the US to visit my mom -- which had my mom very excited! But, surprise, Tony ran into money trouble. My mom sent money. After Tony got the money...Tony was no more.
I thought how nice it'd be for Tony to be real and show up and pay my mom back. But that'll never happen. I can't lie, I could pull together $1,800.00 and make mom whole but that'd be a real strain on me as well.
Hence, this fund raiser. I thought how nice it'd be to hand my mom $1,800.00 on her birthday, Oct 29th and tell her it's not just from me...it's from a lot of nice people who wanted to help an elderly lady be whole and restore her faith in people at the same time! As you can see the goal is $1,700.00 as the first $100.00 will be from me.

Our elderly come from a time when you trusted people... A time when you were only as good as your word. Very sad to say that is not the world we live in today...An entire culture of people who value a handout more than pride and honor! They don't care who suffers or who has to pay. I hope they buy drugs with the stolen loot and OD!!!

This makes me really sad to hear :( Hoping everyone will band together to help her out. She's devoted her life to taking care of other people...it would be nice to see her getting taken care of for once!
