After a thorough and competitive screening process by the organizers, I was fortunate enough to be accepted as a delegate for the Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) Conference 2017, happening at the Harvard University on February 2017.

As Harvard’s largest annual student connection in Asia, the HPAIR creates a forum of exchange and facilitates discussion on the vital economic, political, and social issues relevant to the Asia-Pacific region. Since 1991, the annual HPAIR conference has brought together students from the world’s most distinguished universities and leaders in the fields of government, business, culture, and academia. There were only 300 delegates selected to attend the prestigious event, and only a few of Filipino applicants were accepted.

In this regard, as a Tsinelas Leader duly trained by the Jesse M. Robredo Foundation and as a core member of World Youth Alliance Asia Pacific – Laguna Chapter, I am passionate to represent the Filipino youth in the Humanitarian Affairs panel for the aforementioned event. I believe that attending this conference will extend my understanding on relevant and significant matters particularly involving human rights issues. Discussing such matters with youth leaders and experts from different backgrounds across the globe with varying points-of-view will surely broaden my knowledge. Contributing ideas in forming solutions for pressing problems in the Asia-Pacific would be a great opportunity for me and my colleagues to broaden our advocacy.

Academically, as a Mass Communication student and as the Editor-in-Chief of a school publication, the HPAIR Conference can be my platform in gaining lots learning and insights (at a global scale) whether theoretical and practical, about my field of study.

However, attending the Conference will incur approximately Php100,000 ($2000), with the airfare expenses having the biggest chunk (almost half). Coming from a poor family, my parents and sisters cannot shoulder all of the aforementioned estimated expenses.

Thus, I need your help in making this Harvard dream possible. Donating any amount would greatly contribute to this endeavor. Thank you for making this dream alive and possible!

P.S. You may donate at my BPI bank account at 9049 1962 34.
