Make a security guard great!

I am a female security guard, in my early 30s. The other day it just hit me that there must be more than being "just a guard". I need to start moving forward. I need money to at least go register at an institution to get a certificate in National Keypoint. My current employers are giving me the run-around because they have seen that after guards get the certificate- they leave the company for better employment, now they don't send guards to do the course anymore. I understand the course is expensive, but if I can just collect enough to at least register and start attending. The rest I will make another plan. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I set an end date for on my birthday, so it can be like a extra special birthday gift. Thank you all for your time.
