90% of the population in my area suffer from different ailments and the major being HIV/AIDS, hypertension and diabetes. AIDS is a common disease that kills members of my community although the stigma to the disease has long been removed. Young people suffer from strokes and others from sugar diabetes. These diseases are notifiable ailments and records of how and why a person died are still kept a secret and declared as natural deaths.
Almost 100% of the population wallow in poverty and to them, a sumptuous meal consists of pap (maize meal starch) and chicken feet and intestines. A pizza is a luxury that can only be consumed in December when people receive year end bonuses and are able to share with their distant relatives that are living in my community.
Most children lack proper clothing and drop out from school at an early age. Although I gave some clothing belonging to my son, I have nothing else to offer. Pregnant women in the community cannot afford maternity clothing and are often seen in skirts and t-shirts with protruding bellies. In order for them to give a decent birth, they often commit minor transgressions such as stealing a chocolate from Shoprite stores and others and get caught and sentenced for a period of 6 months in jail. They do that when they are close to giving birth and they know that in jail they will be offered proper health care by the Department of Correctional Services to give birth and raise their children for at least 3 months. Government grants are not enough, actually they do not make an impact. My community is extremely poor with no food. I have often asked for money but people are not interested even from established companies CSI initiatives.
However, all that can be changed with your help. I appeal to your human milk of kindness to donate to my cause to help uplift my community.
