MADS MEDICAL BILLS FUND RAISING

I am doing this fund raiser on behalf of my life partner and the mother of my lovely daughter.

My wife, Madeleine Kruger’s Testimony as follows:

I am a 45 year old woman who is result driven, ambitious, and outgoing.

I am currently working as an office manager at an insurance brokerage and are almost finish with my accreditation to become a Broker.

On 6^th September 2018, while I was training Judo I broke my leg. We were practicing to do combinations, using different throws and moving into an arm slot to over power or undermine your opponent. At the time of my accident, both my legs were stuck between a Judo-and a high jump mat. The young guy that was training with me didn’t execute the throw with enough momentum or strength and he used his entire body weight to push against my leg to try and throw me. You could hear the sound of bones breaking and I landed on the high jump mat with my leg in the most pain I have ever experience.

My sensei acted in a split second. He rushed in pushed the youngster away, told me to focus on him only and in one blow pulled my leg straight. My leg was pointing in the opposite direction, my carve muscle and ligaments on my ankle was torn, my knee was broken in two different places and crushed in on the right side, my upper legs muscle was torn. My sensei told us that this was the worst injury he ever saw in his history of Judo training.

I had no medical insurance at the time and was rushed to Emergency Care at the Local Hospital, we paid cash for the treatment. They wanted to submit me for an emergency operation but this was too expensive seeing that I had no medical insurance. I was referred to the Provincial Hospital for an emergency operation.Upon my arrival at the provincial hospital the doctor on duty did not submit me and sent me home without any treatment. According to him only emergency operations are performed in the hospital and my case was not an emergency. They wanted to wait until the swelling past before they could do anything. We did return to the provincial hospital a week later but they only wanted to put my leg in a cast until it grows back on. The Provincial hospital did not want to perform an operation. I realized to be able to walk again and live a normal life I would need an operation.

We were referred to a reputable Specialist Orthopedic Surgeon through our house doctor. I obtained a quotation for the operation from this highly recommended Specialist Orthopedic Surgeon. When the Specialist heard that I have no medical insurance he managed to make arrangements with his team to perform the operation on credit and arrange that I can pay it off. This is a practice unheard of. If you do not have medical insurance you are referred to the state hospitals and nobody helps you. I am so fortunate that this Specialist Orthopedic Surgeon came on my path. My operation was performed by this team of excellent doctors on 25 February 2019. The operation was a huge success.

When I signed up for Judo, I knew it is a full contact sport and you can get hurt from time to time. I also knew that I have to forgive the young guy for the accident because I could not afford to have any negativity in my life while my leg is healing.

Today I am telling you my story, not to pity me but to assist me to raise money to pay the medical bills generated from my operation. The awesome Specialist Orthopedic Surgeon that came on my path did the operation and allowed us to pay the bill monthly.

The operation was a huge success. I still have a long way to recovery and am not able to walk as yet but with a lot of exercises, physiotherapy, positive thinking and determination I will totally recover and be able to continue with my life.
