Go Fund Me

Good day all.

My name is Johann. I am a full-time Advanced Life Support Paramedic in South Africa and a part time Scuba Diving Instructor. I teach scuba diving as a hobby and not to generate an income. Recently I trained a group of very enthusiastic divers that convinced me to start a new Scuba Diving Club.

The aim of this club is simple. South Africa has some of the best dive sites in the world. But few people get to enjoy this due to the cost of training and diving. We want to make the sport of scuba diving accessible to the average person with the average income in South Africa without compromising on safety. The only way to achieve this is with decent equipment and quality training. And this can only be done with membership fees. So, for the club to generate members we have to offer value for money. The best way for us to do this, is for the club to have its own boat, compressor and gear.

In the words of the navy seals, “If something is worth doing, it is worth over-doing”. Thus for the launch of the new club we are going to attempt to set a Guinness record for the longest relay dive in a controlled environment. We have applied for Guinness to recognise this attempt and are awaiting a response. We have also involved DAN-SA as well and another charity organization that cares for abandoned and neglected dogs to raise funds for their vet costs.

So in short, for us to make this attempt a reality, we are going to need money for a venue, cylinder refills and food for the divers and ground crew for the week that they will be diving.

The club name has been registered and our Facebook page will go live within the next week. So if the opportunity presents itself, please go have a look at Mad Manta Ocean Adventures.

Our aim is to generate $10 000 for this record attempt. This should cover our cost towards a venue and cylinder refills. But every donation would be greatly appreciated as every dime we get is a dime we did not have.

Have a great day! And remember… Dive Often, Dive Deep, Dive Safe!
