My name is Martha Austin and I am a primary school teacher in Sydney, Australia. I very much enjoy teaching and I am particularly passionate about public education and the idea that education is for ALL children. It is for this reason that I have always wanted to volunteer teach in areas where education is not easily accessed by all.
Next year, I will be travelling to Tanzania for 6 months to volunteer teach at Lyamungo Sinde Primary School. My work there will be facilitated by the charity ABCD: Art Building Children's Dreams. The mission of ABCD: Art Building Children's Dreams (UK) is to provide financial assitance to the schools and familities of orphans and children at risk, by using the chidren's art to raise funds for their education. The founder and director, John De Ronde, is kindly assisting me in establishing a connection with Lyamungo Sinde Primary School, and as of February next year I will be teaching the children there.
I would like my work there to be as meaningful as possible and to support the children as best I can. My goal is to raise $5,000. The money raised will go to support the children of Lyamungo Sinde in their schooling by paying supplementary school fees, supplying books and uniforms, and even food, if necessary, through a subsidised school lunch program.
Any contribution would be greatly appreciated. I thank you in advance for assissting me in reaching this goal and for supporting the children of Lyamungo Sinde in their education and achieving their dreams.
