Hi my name is Lucy and I am 21 yrs old. I am trying to raise money to buy a stairlift and accessible bathroom for myself and a secure and weatherproof shed to store my mobility scooter in.
After a car accident 4 years ago I have now become disabled with many medical conditions including: fibromyalgia, M.E and PoTS (which is a heart condition). All these together make me disabled and my mum is my carer, having to do everything for me including washing me, making my food for me, washing my hair, reminding me to take my medications, even cut up my food for me on a bad day.
My conditions have gotten worse over time and it now means that I can only manage the stairs once a day, to and from bed, so I have no access to my bedroom and no space of my own during the day. Also to get up the stairs I have to put all my weight on my mum and she has to pull me up the stairs, with my brother helping. Then to get down the stairs my mum has to stand infront of me and take all my weight, we then go down one step at a time. As you can understand this is very dangerous and I have fallen before and hurt myself. I'm worried I'm going to fall on mum, making us both fall down the stairs.
I also have no access to a bath or shower that is big enough for me to sit down and for my mum to wash me. At the minute this means that I am having to have a wash in the kitchen! I can't go out on my own but I do have a mobility scooter which gives me a little freedom when out with my mum but at the minute it is being stored in a small shed with a leaky roof, broken doors and lots of spiders, meaning that it is not safe, dirty and covered in cobwebs.
Because of all this is I am asking for help to raise £10,000 to buy a stairlift , to give me access to my bedroom whenever I want, to fit a bathroom with an accessable shower, so I can finally have a lovely soak in the shower, and to buy a secure and weatherproof shed to store my mobility scooter in.
If this money, or even some of it, could be raised by xmas it would make me SO happy and I would have the best xmas ever! I never thought my life would turn out like this and I try to get on with life best I can but when you can't even get to your own bedroom or have a nice soak under the shower it makes life pretty miserable.
The people that know me would tell you that I am normaly the first in line to help others in anyway I could and so i ask that if anyone can donate anything, even just a few £'s, then I would be eternally grateful and hope that one day I can help someone else the way that you are helping me.
Love and best wishes
