Lucky’s Second Chance

Meet 9 year old Lucky….. This sweet girl was hit by a car and was scheduled to be euthanized by a local shelter on Friday April 17.  We couldn't help but rush to her rescue after hearing her story. We picked Lucky up on Friday from the other shelter knowing she had serious injuries but not the complete extent.  The digital x-rays indicated that not only was her jaw broken but she also had 3 broken legs and her pelvis was fractured in 2 places. Lucky is also missing her left eye and her right eye has a cataract. Our medical manager started syringe feeding her and gave her fluids and medicine to keep her comfortable.  On Wednesday April 22, Lucky had 3 K-wires surgically placed to stabilize multiple fractures to her lower jaw, 1 of her legs was splinted and her other 2 legs and pelvis will heal with cage rest. Lucky has a long road to recovery ahead and her medical expenses have already exceeded $2000, she still has another surgery ahead of her when the wires get removed and at that time she will also be spayed. We also are arranging cataract surgery on her eye.  We have set up a fund just for Lucky, so we can get her on the road to recovery and ultimately find her a loving forever family.
