Juni, Bilal and almost 2 year old Hayet
I have met this lovely family in not the most glamorous way, on my way home to get the ferry I saw them with a sign in the IFC bridge panhandling, it struck my curiosity to think why would they be here and why are they so desperate that this was their last resort.
Their sign read:
"Stuck Here, Need Money for Room & Baby Needs. Thanks"
After learning of their situation I have come to know that they become "stuck" in Hong Kong while on family holidays, due to misfortunate situations that started with being robbed and lost their passports, this family had to deal with incompetent government departments, being misinformed in many occasions, being in a foreign country that they knew nothing about. They have been stuck in HK since May 2017 and to support themselves for so long they have lost their Business, their home, all their money and in between they have lost friends and family that no longer gives them support nor care for them, they have bought tickets to leave and go back home several times but unsuccessful due to Incompetent Immigration Officials and bad circumstances, they have also tried to appeal for help through different channels but not always successful or little help was provided. They have also been misinformed and never pointed to the right direction. They have their "new" passports confiscated and withheld by prosecution and awaiting for their case in High Court, therefore stuck here in limbo not being able to get on with their lives and not able to go home.
I had posted on Facebook Hong Kong Moms not long ago and the post was subject to a lot of controversy, but indeed it did reach a handful of good hearted and kind samaritans, that helped the family with some necessities.
It also reached to a local charity, on which after meeting this family confirmed my initial post and also confirmed the veracity of their case, nonetheless, its been not more than 1.5 weeks and they are not getting the immediate help that they so need, which is food and funds for accommodation that they will need.
A lovely lady have offered them free accommodation for a short period of time in which will come to an end on the beginning of April.
The family has been very grateful for all the necessities and help they have received but their basic needs have not been met yet, due to the generosity of many people wanting to meet them, the little funds that were given to them they had to spend it in transportation to come and meet the people that wanted to give them something, but it meant that they were spending more that they had, which was already nothing.
Their situation now has reached to the point that they have nothing left and they rely completely on donations from kind hearted people. This family needs funds for food and accommodation, if you can please donate towards this lovely family they would be most grateful. Every dollar helps every dollar counts.
Juni, Bilal and Hayet are just looking for a way to survive and have a roof over their heads.
100% of the Donations will go directly to Juni's Family.
Why am I helping them you may ask?
Just because I can, and why not, I loose nothing in helping them, I have decided that I will do whatever I can to help them, somehow I identify myself with them, Parents to a lovely little girl in a foreign country, I put myself in their shoes what would I do if I was in their situation...I gave them what I could but just me won't make a difference.
But I know that you all together united can make a difference to this small yet Lovely family, they are very humble, simple and lovely people. Please help donate with whatever you can.
