Every parent will do everything for their child. Love them, care for them, and in some cases, even die for them. The love of a parent to his child is never ending. What if a time comes when it's the parents who will need all this love and care? Would a child do everything for them? I will. And my friend, Emar Traje, will too.

Emar and I have been friends for a decade now. Our rather meager financial situation is not new to each other. Through the years, we've come to help each other whenever the other is in need. We've shared stories and we know how our parents kept their noses to the grindstone to send us to college so we can have a better future and a financially stable life.

Around the end of April 2019, Emar's father was admitted in a hospital due to kidney complications. He was in the ICU for several days and underwent a series of dialysis holding on for dear life. After 2 weeks, he was discharged and went back home hoping for a swift recovery.

3 days after, Mr. Traje collapsed and when he regained his consciousness, he complained of an intolerable headache which he revealed he'd been experiencing for a couple of days. Unable to bear the pain, Emar's family sent him again to the hospital and had him undergo a CT scan. When the result was released, a dreadful news greeted them. A pituitary tumor with hematoma has been found and has caused blindness of one of his eyes. The doctors' advice is for him to go through an immediate surgery to remove the tumor so the other eye can be saved. Knowing that your father can be totally blind is heartbreaking. What makes it worse is the fact that the only way to prevent it will require them around PHP600,000-800,000 (more or less USD15,000). With a monthly salary of roughly USD1,000, my friend Emar is out of options as to where in the hands of God will he get that amount of money.

Wanting to give his father the chance to still see the beauty of the world, we are knocking on your generous hearts to help us raise the fund needed for the surgery. We are hoping this message will reach the bottom of your heart's kindness and help this fighting father to still see how the sun rises and sets.

Here is a link of my friend's Facebook status with his father and how he still manages to smile despite the challenge he's trying to overcome.
