Louis’ Sri Lanka-Volunteering Project

I'm writing to ask you to support me in my decision to volunteer for a fantastic charity run organisation called The Mighty Roar.

I will be travelling to Sri Lanka on the 7th January 2023 to help to make a difference to the local community for 4 weeks working on numerous charitable programmes.

I’ll be working alongside local staff supporting a less fortunate community by educating, feeding, entertaining and generally looking after the children in a local day care centre.

I’ll also be helping with animal conservation by rescuing sea turtles, looking after their hatcheries and releasing baby turtles safely into the ocean.

Another local programme will be looking after some of the 1500 dogs in a nearby sanctuary. This will involve feeding the stray dogs, checking they are healthy, helping with the re-homing programme, and treating the dogs at the locals vets.

I have decided to volunteer as I feel it will be both a brilliant experience to better myself and learn about a whole new culture, while also giving back to a less fortunate community and using the privileges I have with purpose in a productive and meaningful way.
