Story:

"Youth is the period in which a man can be hopeless. The end of every episode is the end of the world. But the power of hoping through everything, the knowledge that the soul survives its adventures, that great inspiration comes to the middle-aged.” – Gilbert K. Chesterton

Truth has become a word without meaning because no one knows what really happened. Rumors and stories, however, say that by the year 2025 Earth was steering towards a state of cataclysm. The whole world was engaged in a war fighting the very extremism it once cradled. The global economy was nearing collapse with an ever decreasing number of people holding an unprecedented wealth growing each day. Slow yet undeniable environmental change destroyed several coastal cities and wrecked America’s delicate infrastructure. Even though many could afford the rocketing price of food and water – and were unaffected by the uneven distribution of wealth, the war, and the loss of cities – the increasing minority faced imminent starvation and poverty. It was around this time the shells emerged all across Earth. Some undying whispers claim they were ancient constructs unearthed by accident. Other say the shells were built by humans for purposes unknown. A few even suggest they were extra-terrestrial ships. Should these rumors be believed? Did such constructs even exist? And if they did – were they related to the horrible events that followed? It all started in 2033 when hideous creatures brought from nightmares suddenly emerged from nowhere and devour whole cities by night. When the Sun rose there were no traces of the fiends. Only corpses and torn buildings remained. Entire armies were mobilized to find and exterminate the threat. Scientists around the world worked day and night to figure out what was going on. Families fled the crumbling metropolitan cities for the safety of the country. It is now 2035. The whole world has fallen to the unknown threat hidden by shadows. Only half a billion humans remain. Do you have what it takes to survive and rebuild society – or will you fall prey to the hoard?

Welcome:

"As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world - that is the myth of the atomic age - as in being able to remake ourselves."  - Mahatma Gandhi

Welcome to our project. First we would like to thank everyone that stops in and takes a look. First, in order for you to become interested into this project, I must break down the project into further sub categories. As there are a lot of things to talk about, I will only break down into categories that makes our game different then others, and to explain them further. The categories which will be listed below and further explained are as follows: Crafting, Environment, Player, Storyline, Clans, and Economics. Other important details are the account records of what your money will be used for and broke into what we need. I take this into account because I see you all as a public inventor, and any investor must look at the product and also the expenditure. The last main topic that I want to share with you is the team we have so far and what goals we plan to set.

Concept and Idea:

I want to begin by explaining the game and idea and how it started. The idea was brought up in 2003 when a clan of gamers discussed what would and would not be cool in a game. I decided to write them down and begin documentation of the game. Thus leading to the beginning of the Game Design process, which then started in May of 2012. We consistently worked on the idea little by little and broke down ideas and concepts and made them a reality. After working for about a year on the documents, we decided to get more people interested in the idea and join the team. We have a Writer, Game Designer, Concept Artist, Sound FX Artist, Game Player programmer, and Server programmer. Together, we worked on the game until we found the point which we can no longer continue without funding. This is where we are today. We strive to get funding, and to make a game by gamers for gamers. We have worked hard to get where we are and want to see this idea come to life. We rely and hope on you, the public, to like our idea and to bring it to life.

Brief Explanation of the Game Idea:

You are dropped into a huge environment and are massively confused on the situation. The game takes place in 2035, after the world hits a huge economic downfall, governments collapse and the world goes into mass chaos. In order to control things, the government, from what it was left, the government built “shells” over the main cities to protect the wealthy who were funding them. Poor health and loose virus' caused chaos, the shells collapsed and opened a new area to raid for the outsiders. This is when you come in. Your main objectives in the game are to survive and maintain health. But as you proceed in the game, you quickly realize that an seemingly easy task is not so easy. There are a lot of oppurnitunites and you can do just about anything you want:Control your own markets, Build Empires, Craft your own items, destroy enviroments and work together to show your own! All this relies on you, you must be the one to make it, in this new world, a new lost world.

As I said above in the Welcome tab, I want to explain the key concepts of the game and get you informed. So here they are:

Players: We wanted to focus mainly on multiplayer but also have single player mode. We created bonuses for both. We will start off with some key aspects to pay attention to: Your Hunger, Thirst, Sanity, Addiction. These bars are something that must be watched at all times.

Sanity: Don't be by yourself! This bar is one of the lesser of evils, however, is important. Our main focus is to get teamwork and strategy back into gaming. As you don't take huge penalties for hitting bottom, such as character starting to talk to itself, it is something to keep in mind. As we also know, some people do not want to be with others. We understand, so we have the option to have companions such as a dog, cat or falcon, each with their own capabilities. As long as you have someone or something near you your meter does not move, you don't go insane.

Addiction: This bar is our unique idea of a drug system. Although they are illegal in-game, players can take them to help out in sticky situations, but be careful, as an overdose on drugs can lead to more problems than you bargained for. Keep an eye on this bar to tell you how close you are to that level.

Hunger: If you do not eat, you starve and slowly die.

Thirst: If you do not drink, you become dehydrated and leads to death.

We set up a skill system unique to our own idea as the player progessed in the game. We wanted to get away from the classic RPG model of leveling up and grinding to level your skill. Instead, we give you skill points for each character skill level achieved… these points can be distributed into categories for which you plan to level. But don't fret, If you want to grind and spend all day crafting then why shouldn't you level up? We got you covered...If you grind all day to level up to be able that special item, we also give you points, but only to use in that certain category. Each Category is a skill tree, which is broken down into other smaller parts...here is a list of the main categories.

Electronics

Crafting

Farming

Building

Chemistry

Leadership

All of these have positives for you, and/or for you party/ clan.

Single Player: As the game is intended for multiplayer and teamwork, we understand that people may want to be by themselves. As a person who loves to travel by themselves, there are little perks you can get to to achieve certain qualitites about you: Thief, Spy, Mercenary, MasterMind, Politician. All of these do not stack, must be chosen wisely and go away once you join a clan.

Thief: They can hack into devices faster and also take control of robots or scanners. They then can sell them on the market or keep for their own use.

Spy: They can be contracted by Clans or Alliances to sneak into other clan cities and disable certain items. They have a natural sneak ability and are masters of stealth.

Mercenaries: They also can be contrated by Clans or Alliances, to fight in their wars, or protect base. Based on the contract, there are certain limitations they can have. Mercenaries also can have 2 companions.

MasterMind: They are the controler of the Economic world. These men can make money by playing the markets. All items which they put up for sale is not taxed nore is any item they buy. They also tend to craft 5% faster and can automatically copy Plans, Blueprints and Recipes.

Politician: For some it may not sound fun but for others it does. They want to control the world but do not want to do it in a criminal way. So they run for governor and are chosen by the people to talk with developers about ideas and problems. They also have their own office in a safe city and controls that safe city. They automatically get food and drink which cannot be sold or traded. By controlling a safe city they are responsible for the tax, and the amount of enforcement of the city. They can upgrade buildings and choose what to put in next. These politicians are chosen every 3 months. But hey, they aren't doing a good job? Report them, once reported a public survey goes out and a revote is cast, if above 50% negative then he is kicked out and a new vote goes up.

Crafting: The crafting process is real unique to our game and sets us apart from others. Instead of the classic gather and put into a pot and out comes a weapon..we changed it up a bit. YOU CAN CRAFT EVERYTHING! Every item in-game you see, you can craft. From a lamppost to a vehicle. Here is the problem, to begin crafting you must have a blueprint, plan, or a recipe. All of these are different crafted items:

BluePrint: Blueprints allow the crafting of Vehicles and Electronics and Weapons.

Plans: Allow the building of Buildings, and Prop items.

Recipes: Allow the crafting of Food, Drink, Drugs and First Aid.

Now once you have one of these you can begin to see what you need to build...The world is yours...you go around and find the materials needed for your items, you can break anything down to get certain items. Once the items are made/gathered, you bring them back to your crafting table and assemble them on your plans. By dragging and dropping the items onto the matching area, you begin to craft. We wanted more control, so we added an idea, we like to call, "Create Your Own"….this means that certain items such as vehicles and buildings and weapons and food and drugs, you are allowed to “experiment” with it to make your own genuine design...be quick tho, there are only a limited amount of designs out there, and once you make it its yours no one else can take them. Unless they get a hold of your creation.

Clans: If you have your head crafter building a vehicle lets say, and he wants to make a unique one but everything is taken, dont fret! you are allowed to make it with added bonuses. The lead crafter of the clan adds up all the bounouses of the clan and puts them together and crafts the item. here is how it works:

Clan Name: The Beavers

Lead Crafter: John Cooper

Building: Heavy Personal transport Vehicle

Added Mods: Snow Plow, Spot lights, 4 Weapon Mounts

Wieght : 8.3 tons

Speed: 0-80 km in 6.4 seconds

Holds 40 inventory slots and 10 passengers

UpGrading to: Beavers Heavy Personal Transport

Clan vehicle skill level added + Books in Clan library + personal skill

         350                                                + 13%                     20         =

Wieght: 7.4 tons

Speed: 0-80 km in 5.3 seconds

Holds 100 inventory slots and 15 passengers

Storyline:

A basic map of the Storyline

We didn't want to force you to play the storyline as some do not like to play it where others do. Again, as we like to be different, we configured a way to do this. Throughout the game you never know how things happened or where certain things come from. If you wish to learn the truth, then search for it. The Storyline is very broad and open and is completely up to the player in what he believes. As you walk around groups of people or activist or even a single person, they may spark your attention. If you choose, you can walk up to them and see what their beliefs are. You can choose to believe them or, if you just want to play that storyline, you can take their word. Some are crazy and some are more realistic. For example your walking around a safe city and going to go to the bar...All of a sudden an npc(non-player) comes out and starts screaming something..you walk up and can tell he has had a few to drink and tells you that he believes that martians came down and destroyed the "shells". He says has proof and asks you to help him find out. Another scenario is you are out in the woods and an Environmental activist group starts shouting as they walk about, keeping the air clean and such....you talk to them and they say that the world got like this because of global warming...you then decide if you believe them and chase that storyline. At any point you can choose to leave that storyline and never return. The choice is yours, what you believed happened. But the world will never know

Envirement:

The unique aspect about this enviroment is that is is huge! It is 256 km's, to be presice. The world that you see is always changing form and this also affects the gameplay. From the oceans, mountains, prairies and to desert. Through day and night cycles, the weather includes rain, snow, thunderstorms and wind. There are also the 4 seasons (spring, summer, fall, winter) which play a role. A full year in game is 4 months real time, so every month is a different season with different attributes to them.

Clans:

Clans are a big part of the game and are capable of a lot. Unlike other games, the clan system in The Lost Worlds runs deep in the benefit for the gaming clans. As clans can do a lot they also play a big part in the world and how the game changes, from creating wars to becoming an alliance. They will also have the ability to do the following features:

Build Bases

Defend

Manufacture

Create own Markets

Craft items special to them

Special Logos

And Many More....

Economics:

We have created two different Economic systems, one for the traditionalist and another to add variety. The first is very familiar to most. It is based around a smart market system. This is where you can obtain an item for one price, however, you may be able to sell that item minutes later for double the price you paid or half. That depends on what the rate is for that product. That is our Open Market in the game.

Now for the icing on the cake. Our next system is very controllable if you have the resources. In this market you can buy anything from the perfectly legal all the way up to the most illegal weapons, drugs, and other criminally obtained items. The very unique thing about this market is that who controls it and how they gain/maintain control of it. With the Black Market, someone is always in control and that someone is the clan with the most resources. Every clan will receive Ban points based on the resources they choose to make, how much they make, and how many points it is worth. The clan with the most Ban points chooses how the Market is run until they are dethroned. Now what does having control of the market mean? Well, while you are in control, you hold the rights to upto 5 products of your choosing. Essentially, you go in and ban the selling of those products so that you are the only one who can sell those. This market is still split into groups like the Open Market will be, though when you control the market, it isn’t just cooking or armor you will control. You will control everything: cooking, weapons, vehicles, armor, and drugs. Beware though, just as easily as you take the throne of the Black Market you can lose it.
