Lost Job due to FLU !

I lost my job at the end of July after I missed 5 consecutive days due to Norvovirus. I DID have a doctor's excuse but my employer doesn't accept a doctor's excuse for missed time. I did get unemployment but I got a letter Saturday stating that it had run out after only three months. I didn't think it would be this difficult to find another job and all of my savings is just about gone. I don't know what to do and I am desperate because I don't want to be homeless and winter is here and I'm afraid to use the heaters because I know I won't be able to pay the electric. I do not waste money on cable and other frivolties, I use my neighbor's wifi (with her permission). I have an 11 year old handicapped dachshund and do not want to surrender her if I become homeless. I do not have any family to turn to for help and I'm at my wit's end. Any help is appreciated.
