A 78 years old widow of 5 and a very loving mother to us. Everyone calls her “NANAY” means “MOM”

For a period of 2 years, I took my mother to the Doctor for regular checkups once or twice in 3 months. But on mid-2017, I noticed that I’m taking her almost every month as she complained of difficulties in breathing. All the tests were normal but it was determined that she had contracted pneumonia. This was treated by medicines. Nov 2017, she was confined to the hospital for 5 days as she had a recurrence of pneumonia. It was treated then and maintained by medicines.

The battle begins …

Feb 21, 2018 morning, I was wondering why my mom was not up yet for breakfast, I went to her room, I called her and she responded in a very low tone voice but I was thinking why she was not moving at all. I took my portable BP machine & taken her BP and found out that her BP was very low 50/60 and saw that she could not breath properly, therefore I rushed her to the hospital.

The first hospital that we went to was the hospital where we go for her regular check-up, she was admitted right away and stayed there for one night but the Doctor advised me to move her immediately to the nearest Hospital that can provide all the treatment and that was equipped w/ all the facilities, as her condition was very critical as she had suffered from a minor heart attack.

Feb 22, 2018 / morning, she was moved to another hospital via ambulance, she was almost un-conscious. She was rushed to the emergency room and her condition made stable. The hospital carried out various tests and it was decided by the Doctors that she needed an immediate angioplasty. The angioplasty cost approx more or less Pesos 200,000.00 ( USD 4,000.00) .

Feb 23, 2018 / she woke up and wondered where she was… I gave her pen & paper to communicate w/ me, below conversation w/ mom.

Mom: Where I am?

Me: Ambulance took you from previous hospital to this hospital as you suffered from heart attack and this hospital can take care of you as they have complete facilities.

Mom: No need, lets give up, we do not have money to pay all these

Me: Don’t think of the expenses, our main goal is to treat you so that you will become ok, all you have to do is to fight this battle.

Then she kept quiet & it really broke my heart.

Feb 24, 2018 @ 2pm was the schedule of her Angioplasty procedure and it lasted for approx 2 hrs. All went well and she was moved to the ICU room for 24 hrs observation, if all ok, she would be moved to a private room for recovery. Unfortunately she could not be moved out from ICU because the Doctor diagnosed another illness as she suffered from a pneumonia/ pulmonary risk, her lungs were full of water and Doctor has to prescribe the antibiotics called VIALS which is very costly. Her pneumonia is under treatment, Nurse gave her suction procedure almost everyday just to remove the phlegm from the lungs. As they go on regular treatment, lab test, x-ray, all kinds of test which are required for her conditions. One day she surprised Nurses as well as the Doctors as she was bleeding from her nose & mouth and it lasted for 2 days. She underwent an examination by ENT Doctor. The Nasal Endoscopy result was Negative (which was good), they have done hemoglobin test due to bleeding her hemoglobin dropped down and recommended to give her a blood transfusion (4x500ml of type 0+), she complained about her stomach being hurt., she also suffers for a gastro stomachproblem and lots of lab tests, etc still going on.

March 7, 2018 – the Doctor tried to remove the ventilator, I have spread the good news to everybody, but it was good for 5 hours only without the support of ventilator, then Doctor’s advised to put back the ventilator. The Doctor already advised for Tracheoctomy procedure as her throat was suffering & swollen.

March 13, 2018, the Doctor proceeded w/ Tracheoctomy procedure and she is still in the ICU under observation until this date.

At the moment current cash spent from Feb 22 till date is Pesos 300,000.00 (USD 6,000.00) : with the help of other siblings & some loans from friends.

Partial Current bill as of March 15, 2018 is approx Pesos 350,788.00 (USD 7,000.00) : the benefits or discounts of being a Senior Citizen is already deducted.

Bill does not include the Doctor’s fee of 7 Specialists looking after her from Feb 22 till date.,

Hospital bill is growing as day goes by.

This is my way to SEEK & SHOUT for HELP… for the continuous support of her medication/ hospitalization.

Any amount counts and will be very much appreciated.

We are not sure when she will come out from the hospital, we are hoping soon….

If it is not too much, please include her in your prayers for her speedy recovery.
